Big Magic, creative living beyond fear by Elizabeth Gilbert- Book review

This month's book review is Big Magic- creative living beyond fear by Elizabeth Gilbert (I will refer to it as Big Magic from here and Elizabeth as Liz). This is the second time I've read (and also bought) this particular book. It was originally published in 2015 and I read it in about 2017 whilst travelling full time, in the throws of responsibility free life, living on a remote island off peninsula Malaysia. I adored this book at the time, so much so I leant it to a fellow back packer, but it disappeared off and I have always hoped that book has been handed around to many people. Almost 10 years later, I had a calling to reread Big Magic, at at time of my life I needed it.
Big Magic is a non-fiction book from author Elizabeth Gilbert, who you may know from Eat Pray Love. You may also know her other fiction such as The Signature of All Things. It is a book designed for creative people- cliff notes- that is everyone, not just those wanting to write or paint, but those wanting a creative life in general.
I adore Big Magic. Both times I have read it, I have taken completely different thoughts away. The first time I felt inspired and light, the second time I focused far more determination- get it done no matter what/ despite your life. My copy is full of post it notes, sticky arrows, highlighting important points Liz raises. Again I really do not think this book is about creative living solely, it is fantastic for anxious lives, for living a bit bigger and with less worry.
Liz's writing is so beautiful and easy to read. She feels like a friend, but some of the tips in this book are spoken like a true friend- not always the easy answer but the one that will bring you the best result. I also wholeheartedly agree with the idea that there is opportunity for us all to do well but also reason to have a go. I believe a sustainable eco friendly life also requires creativity, so although I like to review things not necessarily directly related to sustainability, this book nicely fits within living a green and also happy life.

I thoroughly recommend Big Magic. It's easy to read (pretty short too) that you can pick up before bed, in a queue, on a quiet Sunday with a cup of tea. It's extremely easy to buy second hand, which I did as I have post it noted many pages and will use it for reference and inspiration when I need it.
